We recently became an alliance partner of S.A.F.E. Rockies, a coalition of entities working to end modern-day slavery. The coalition members are involved in every step from prevention, to rescue and recovery, to restoration. Rescue America, one of the coalition members, focuses on rescue and recovery. We’re hoping to partner with them in a significant way to fight trafficking.

January was Human Trafficking Awareness month. We engaged by educating ourselves, and our social media followers, on the issues and statistics. As we continue to learn more about labor and sex trafficking, we realized that Denver has a high number of cases. Through the years we have learned a lot about sex trafficking, who its victims are, recognizing the signs and how we can help. As we gathered information to share, we were reminded of the epidemic we face. Take a look at some of the shocking and heartbreaking statistics below:

The United States was one of the world’s worst places for human trafficking in 2018. One of the worst in the world. Let that sink in. Thousands upon thousands of young boys, girls and women are being trafficked in our backyard.

What does that mean for us? What can we do to change this? What can you do to get in the fight? One of the ways you can be part of ending human trafficking is by recognizing some of the signs:

Other ways include attending seminars in your area, hearing survivor stories, conducting your own research to educate yourself, making informed purchasing decisions and buying products that support survivors.

The only way human trafficking will ever end is if we take a stand and do something about it. Your voice matters.
