Another year is here. It appears each one passes quicker than the last. Life isn’t slowing down; it steamrolls its way through us… or even past us.

It feels that way for me. Like life is a step ahead and I can’t quite catch up. Januarys come quick, bringing with them a fixation on goal setting, resolutions, and self-improvement. Though this season can be wonderful for reflection and recalibration, I find myself too tired to engage.

Honestly, a personal or professional ‘new year makeover’ would be a quick fix. So much change occurred last year that I’m not sure I’ve had the time to find security where I am. I didn’t close out the year with lots of energy. In fact, I felt I was crawling toward the finish line. I suspect others might feel the same. And that’s okay.

A simple reminder for 2023: You are enough, just as you are.

Whether you’ve already marked ten things off your bucket list or are struggling to get out of bed, you are worthy of another year of life. Our dreams and purpose, and the goals we set to achieve them, are wonderful, but they mean nothing if we aren’t okay in-and-of ourselves.

You aren’t what you do or how much you achieve. Release yourself of expectation and simply show up. One day at a time—authentic and real, messy and beautiful. It might not feel like much, but it’s something. It is enough. The more you believe it for yourself, the more you can pass that same truth on to others.

“The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
