Welcome Home
UnbridledACTS is hosting a Matching Fund for a special booklet that will be distributed within Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility, and Sterling Correctional Facility. We will match $1 for $1 up to $2,500 for a total goal of $5,000. The hope is to print 1,000 copies of the booklet described below—Welcome Home. This Matching Fund will run through Friday, October 29th.
The author of Welcome Home is Karen D. Clark, an 8-year resident of Denver Women’s Correctional Facility. Over the last nine years, her path with God has grown slow and steady. During the God Behind Bars sponsored church services, Karen watched the women around her raise their hands to give their lives to Christ. Week after week she saw the same women raise their hands and her heart ached for them. Karen realized they lacked the knowledge of what came next after making this decision.
After God’s prompting and much discussion with volunteers, Karen was encouraged to write a “guide” for those new in the faith. She titled her manuscript Welcome Home. Relying on the Holy Spirit for direction, the written Word of God for instruction, and snippets of sermons and classes that influenced her, Karen dedicated countless hours to fine-tune the resource. She includes tangible and biblical answers on things such as: how to pray, how to read the Bible, how to nurture a relationship with God, etc. This is not just any guide, though; Karen’s personal experience and heart for those around her is tangible throughout her writing.
In Karen’s words…
“No relationship grows or lasts if we don’t nurture it by spending time together. I pray this booklet helps each of you who reads it move towards a deep and lasting relationship with God (Father/Son/Holy Spirit). I hope it encourages you to seek opportunities in church, prayer, groups, classes, sermons on TV, and fellowship with other Christians to bring you into recognition of your identity and destiny in Christ.”
Thank you for partnering together to make Karen’s dream a reality!
