Olara Family – Mizizi Staff
Anna Olara has had a heart for Uganda from as early as high school, traveling there for the first time in 2013 to teach business. Once on the ground, her God-given talent for developing people and business and her love for the Ugandan people came together in a beautiful way. After a couple of short-term trips, Anna moved to Uganda full-time in 2015, serving rural communities with a heart for discipleship. She got married and started a family. The Lord moved mightily during her time there, growing the fire in her heart for the Ugandan people. It was also during these five years that Anna first connected with Mizizi.
In 2020, due to unforeseen circumstances, Anna and her family moved back to Colorado. During this time, Anna walked through some of the deepest valleys yet has come to know God more deeply as a compassionate Father, protector, and place of peace when her world was shattered. After visas were denied for Anna’s oldest son and the decision was made to end her marriage, she stepped into the life of a single mom.
While State-side, the Lord provided healing through counseling, as well as a position at a community-focused nonprofit where she was trained in trauma-informed care. Anna remained close with UnbridledACTS and the Mizizi program during this time, dreaming and creating vision for what a holistic, sustainable community could look like in Uganda. Looking back, so much of her time in Colorado was God equipping Anna with tools she would need to continue developing her original dream of an intentional community in rural villages in Uganda. The Lord is now calling her back to fulfill her dream and support Mizizi’s efforts in Jinja and Kayunga.
