Cañon City Speech & Debate Matching Fund

UnbridledACTS is hosting a Matching Fund to support the Cañon City High School Speech & Debate team’s trip to Louisville, KY for this year’s national tournament. We will match $1 for $1 up to $500 for a total goal of $1,000. This match will run through the end of April 2022.

Speech and debate is an extracurricular activity offered to Cañon City High School students that teaches important life skills that impact every person’s life. The Cañon City Speech and Debate team is a legacy program, having been around for many years, and is an important aspect of the Southern Colorado district. Speech & Debate offers 13 different events for students to compete in, while diligently attending invitationals from October through March. Every year, the team has between 13-15 members who each participate in many other activities, including drama, choir, band, student council, etc.

Four students will be competing at the national tournament this June in Louisville, KY. This is a prestigious honor that comes with a whole season of practice and dedication. Cañon City High School is very excited to represent Cañon City on a national stage; however, that does come at a cost. The Speech & Debate team is working to cover each student’s airfare, lodging, food, and transportation for the trip. To assist, we have set up this dollar-for-dollar match (up to $500) where 100% of donations will go to the Cañon City Speech & Debate team. The hope is to cover the cost of at least one student. The students are so excited, some have never even flown on a plane, so this will be a truly impactful opportunity.
