Mizizi

Mizizi is Swahili for rooted. Being rooted symbolizes God’s heart for an area that suffered decades of civil war. As people return to their homes, they need to know that God will nurture, provide and protect them. Mizizi gets to be part of that greater plan by providing discipleship training, business skills, and modeling a sustainable lifestyle. Being rooted means that we are committed to a long-term relationship with the region. It means putting relationships before programs, and finding the balance between being and doing. We seek to unbridle a culture through love that sees, listens, and acts.

We want to be among those who see and know the hidden people on the Earth. This requires intentionally seeking those who are overlooked by others. It means putting relationships before programs, and finding the balance between being and doing. We seek to unbridle a culture through love that sees, listens, and acts.

In Uganda, we do this through partnering with local leaders, discovering their dreams, and helping them love their community to life. We license the Yobel curriculum to teach business skills, budgeting, and financial stewardship. We model what we teach, and partner with the great ideas that come from our Ugandan friends.

God Sees – The story of Hagar is significant for us. It’s about God seeing a woman in a desperate situation, then giving her direction, hope, and purpose. That is why our symbol is a giraffe; they have the largest heart on land, and the ability see those in hidden places. We seek to Unbridled a culture through love that sees, listens, and acts.

Bev Harris

Bev is a wife, mother, and grandmother whose desire to know God gives her a passion to encourage others to discover the abundant life He offers in Scripture. Like King David, Bev asks the Lord to “show her His ways and teach her His paths.” Out of the abundant love she has received in her personal journey with God, Bev imparts a mother’s love and blessing to each person she encounters. Her heart is most alive in Uganda, where she is affectionately known as Mom.
