Downard Family – Haiti Adoption Matching Fund
UnbridledACTS is hosting a Matching Fund to support the Downard Family as they complete the process of adopting two girls from Haiti. We will match $1 for $1 up to $12,500 for a total goal of $25,000. This match will run April 10-24, 2023:
Chris and Skye Downard are parents to two sweet, biological sons and live in a suburb of Denver, Colorado. They are in the process of adopting two precious Haitian girls. The girls are 16 years old and three-and-a-half years old and are sisters. The Downard’s heard about the girls in late 2020 and knew immediately that they were meant to be a part of their family. The sisters, who the Downards call “our girls,” are very close to each other, and are very happy to be able to stay together forever, as family members should.
Since being legally matched in October of 2021, the Downards have bonded deeply to their girls through video calls, photos, and messages back and forth. The girls’ bedrooms are ready, school plans in place, and community ready to support. However, due to the already lengthy adoption process and ongoing, significant humanitarian crises in Haiti, the girls’ case is not yet complete, and they have not been able to come home.
For the last year and a half, the Downards have supported the orphanage their girls live, providing food, water, and money for various repairs to ensure the children are cared for. With these unforeseen circumstances and case delays, the Downards’ financial plans have changed greatly. To support, we have set up this dollar-for-dollar match (up to $12,500) where 100% of donations will go to the Downard family. The hope is to ease the financial burden of the remaining court fees, as well as all travel expenses until the girls arrive safely in Colorado.
The Downards are so grateful for people willing and able to partner with them to keep their girls cared for until the adoption is complete. If you would like to help bring the Downard girls home, please give below.
