Yobel International

Justice. Awareness. Empowerment.

Yobel International seeks to empower communities both in the Pikes Peak region and abroad, to eliminate extreme poverty, unjust labor, and human trafficking by creating sustainable business opportunity. Yobel facilitates business training, mentorship, and development globally, empowering others to create change in their own lives, releasing them from unjust labor and poverty while engaging and educating our local community in justice issues. They are an independent non-profit, but we love them so much that we call them partners and family. UnbridledACTS Africa utilizes the Yobel Business training, and regularly shares their powerful message.

Lets face it, this world is run by business. We are a culture of consumers, driven by the next best thing, defined by the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’ and capitalism makes it all happen. For-profit businesses don’t always have a place amidst the realm of typical development work, but Yobel has seen business training and implementation bring sustainable change in impoverished communities around the world.

Thus, two well-meaning idealists traded in their table-waiting days and became social entrepreneurs in order to teach others the entrepreneurial skills they had to learn themselves. As a result, businesses in refugee communities have begun to double subsistence farmer’s annual income. Businesses in Red Light areas are providing a way out of prostitution for the first women in generations. Businesses in a border town provide hope and confidence in the midst of violence. But at the end of the day, our business isn’t about business at all – it’s about people. About offering hope, opportunity, freedom, dignity and love to the oppressed of the world through teaching and trade.

Sarah Ray

After receiving her degree in Religious Studies from Drury University, Sarah spent many months in travel and service within the developing world which later inspired her to co-found an international justice organization and fair-trade initiative called Yobel Market in 2008.

With a history of ministry and service work through Young Life and the local church, Sarah cultivated a desire to see individuals set free from oppression and captivity which led to her position as Executive Director for Yobel International, a non-profit seeking to empower communities to pursue the hope of freedom and abundant life through ethical business initiatives.

When not traveling within the developing world teaching entrepreneurial skills, Sarah acts as consultant, speaker, and writer. She resides in Woodland Park, CO with her husband of 7 years, Brian Ray and young son Niall. On days of rest, Sarah is most likely to be found buried in a book, hiking out-of-doors or pursuing her “foodie interests” in a local cafe or very own kitchen.
